Spring Hill HomeSchool Boot Camp | P.E.

For several weeks now we have been discussing the possibilities of beginning a Boot Camp | P.E. session for HomeSchool students in the Spring Hill – Thompson Station – Columbia area. We heard from several parents who desired an opportunity for their kids to have a chance one day a week to get active.

This past Monday, 22 young people from ages 8 – 16 gathered at Harvey Park in Spring Hill, TN. We had the privilege of teaching them proper warm up techniques along with stretching movements. For the next 50 minutes, exercise was built in to the games we played. How great it was to see kids from all over South Nashville that had never met before Monday, working together during our partner activities. It has been a while since I personally have had so much fun!

Several of the students have been active for some time, while many are just now being introduced to fitness. This class is designed with something for every level. Without question, every participant left the park worn out, but they also left with a smile on their face.

HomeSchool Boot Camp begins Monday in Spring Hill for the Thompson Station / Columbia areas. Monday afternoon, we are on to Bellevue for more Sport Specific Training.

Fall slots are still available for winter / spring athletes covering all of Nashville and the surrounding areas.

We have also started something brand new for individuals unable to get to our Boot Camp location. Over the last two months, we have been pleased with the results of this new endeavor. It is convenient, affordable, and allows you the flexibility that fits your schedule.

What can Sport Specific Training do for you?

Baseball players: Your first step movement could be the difference in scoring the winning run. Strong balance and agility could get you to the ground ball that normally is out of reach.

Soccer players: Endurance, Foot Work, Defensive Mechanics, and Speed are the difference between being good and great.

Basketball players: Your lateral movement and agility beats your competitor to the ‘spot’ and you get the charge call. Open ‘looks’ are yours on the offensive end because you put in the work to gain a competitive edge.

8/22/13 – Sport Specific Training (Nashville)

This week started off with some bad news concerning one of our athletes. D.J. was enjoying going through some baseball drills with his friends, when a freak thing happened and his arm was broken. The next day, he had to endure surgery to put a rod and screws into his arm. We were thankful to hear that everything with his surgery went well and he will be back at it in no time. We have never met anyone tougher than this young man, and ask that everyone keep him in your thoughts as he recovers.

Rylie (10) began work with us this past week in preparation for fall baseball. Even though he is a Vanderbilt fan, we still like him. 🙂 He has brought an incredible passion to his sessions, and loves to learn. The video below is a lateral let-go drill that works on his lateral strength/footwork as well as his first step movement to sprint. The next 6 weeks for this young man will be special to watch.

Savannah (11) has turned her training toward fall soccer. We have had the privilege to work with her for over 7 weeks now, and have grown to appreciate her drive. She shows up every session ready to work and leaves with nothing left in the tank.

These are just a couple of the Nashville area athletes that we are privileged to work with on a weekly basis. They are learning not only how to get faster, quicker, and stronger at their sport, they are gaining confidence in themselves that is going to benefit them for years to come. To be a small part of that is incredibly humbling.

Boot Camp – MS | Sport Specific – TN

We had such an incredible time this past Thursday – Saturday as Boot Camp sessions began in Tupelo, MS. Despite the summer humidity, it was great being outdoors. Individuals from Tupelo and other surrounding communities brought tons of energy and passion to the workouts. {We even had some ducks try to join in.}


Assessments were performed on all of our new clients, and each were given the opportunity to share their goals and what they hoped to accomplish over the next few months. It was a joy to come alongside each of these individuals in order to help them reach their dreams.

As soon as the Saturday morning session was complete, we headed back to Nashville for a sports-specific session with DJ. This began his 3rd week of training, and his footwork, agility, and overall speed is getting better and faster each week. DJ treats every session with a game-like mentality, and he constantly reminds himself that his fall baseball schedule is right around the corner, meaning that every drill is putting him one step ahead of his competition. Just by observing him now, you would never know that he was one year removed from a fracture to his right leg. That should tell you everything you need to know about this kids desire to reach the next level.


7/31/13 – Sport Specific Training (Nashville)

We have been dodging rain drops this week with our sport specific athletes. Had sessions with Savannah (11) and DJ (12) this morning as they continued their preparation for fall sports. This was only DJ’s second session and his footwork and speed is already changing.

They both went through warm up – speed ladder – cone agility drills – sprint work. What I love about the video’s below: Due to wet grass, Savannah lost her footing as she entered the sprint portion of the drill. From the beginning, we have constantly reminded the students to FINISH. Other than something medical, every drill should be completed. LOVE that Savannah finished the drill she started despite losing her footing.

DJ is in his first week of training. A year ago, he suffered a very serious injury that he has worked incredibly hard to recover from. He has brought a passion and desire to get back to the place he was before the injury. It is going to be fun watching his progress over the next few weeks. So proud of both these Nashville area athletes.

7/24/13 – Sport Specific Training (Nashville)

We had the opportunity to work with Max (13) and Savannah (11) yesterday in the Nashville area. These two have brought an amazing effort each session, and their hard work is paying off. Below are a couple examples of ladder drills that they are working on.

Sport Specific Speed / Agility / Strength Training is for athletes of all ages. Each session is designed specifically for movements the athlete will encounter in his / her sport. This program will change not only the performance of the athlete on the field, it will build confidence within them in every aspect of life. The atmosphere of each session is supportive and fun, but it will also challenge them to push through to a whole new level of performance.
